Review highlights

Based on 218 reviews

Konoba Kantun is widely praised for its authentic Croatian dining experience, particularly excelling in fresh, expertly grilled seafood and regional specialties. Reviewers consistently highlight the quality and freshness of the fish, which is often presented and explained by the staff before cooking. The restaurant’s warm and attentive service, embodying genuine Croatian hospitality, is another common theme that enhances the overall experience. Guests also appreciate the inviting atmosphere, including both the cozy indoor seating and the charming garden area. While the menu is relatively small, it focuses on a select range of dishes executed with care. Reasonable pricing paired with exceptional food and service makes Konoba Kantun a highly recommended destination for visitors to Vis.

We had the fish plate, the lamb and swordfish, with vegetables and potatoes. Everything was absolutelly delicious, the service was great and super friendly and the price was fair, we paid here the same we paid in a lot of other very low quality places. I highly recommend it

Ivo, Karlo, Pixi and the grill master made our trip on Vis so memorable! The best grilled fish I have had in Croatia. Service is friendly and professional. They gave us a bottle of their special olive oil from Brač. Everything about Konoba Kantun is a perfect depiction of real Croatian hospitality and food, they make you feel at home. Highly recommend.

First night on Vis and we found this place quickly on Google maps. All of the tables at the front stated reserved, but as we were only 2 they squeezed us in. They also have a garden area, which also looked a delightful place to eat. They have a very small menu, but what they do, they do very well. They offer a nice range of freshly caught fish, that they bring to the table to show you and explain how they will cut it and cook it. We actually went for the fillet steak as I was craving beef and my wife had the cuttlefish risotto. Both excellent. The service deserves a special mention, as they explain everything and will adapt pretty much anything to accommodate your choices. When it came to the wine, I asked if he could recommend a local red wine. When he brought the 2 glasses, he said we can change them if they weren't to our taste! We also had a dessert, which was described as cake. It wasn't cake as we in the UK would know it, but a really chocolatey, deep filled pastry tart. It also had nuts in it...DELICIOUS!

W Kantun was the first of a number of wonderful dinners we enjoyed during a seven-day sail in early May through the islands of Croatia—and I think my friends and I agree it was the best gustatory and hospitality experience of the whole trip.We landed in Kut on Vis and took a walk at sunset to explore the Kut neighborhood and the bay of Vis Town. On our way back to the boat, we were beckoned into the Kantun restaurant by the sight of a smoldering fireplace and the smells of grilled meat and vegetables. At the door, we were greeted warmly by the proprietor and invited in for dinner. From that moment on, our kind host guided us through a culinary exploration of traditional Croatian dishes such as beef stew with fresh gnocchi, fish risotto, grilled lamb, fries potatoes and grilled tomatoes, zucchini and eggplant, local wine; plus a delicious freshly baked chocolate cake. Every bite of our meal was delicious. The ambiance was warm and upbeat, and the service was delightful.

We really had very good food here. The menu is not extensive, which is a good thing: they focus on a correctly cooking local dishes using local ingredients just as they should be. Don't come here if you want a pizza or burger, do come here if you want fresh fish, octopus, squid, wine, olive oil, etc. We had very good cuttlefish risotto and octopus goulash. The best dish, however, was the grilled squid - I can honestly say that, cooked over embers, this was the best squid I've ever tasted. Charred and flavoursome but not overcooked. My only complaint is that for the price (120kn) and for a full stomach, the portion should be 3 squid rather than 2, which just isn't enough. Nevertheless, I fully recommend this restaurant. Charming and engaging waiters.

Absolutely wonderful, sat and enjoyed the view, had fish and wine and dessert. Best olive oil and bread I’ve ever had. Make sure you book well in advance!

Totally recommend for service, traditional and local food, fresh fish, lamb or grilled vegetables straight from the charcoal grill. Yum. Such a beautiful location too!
